Ford Edge Earns IIHS Top Safety Pick Score

The Ford Edge has earned the Top Safety Pick score from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Ford made modifications to the redesigned model to make sure it was safer than ever, and IIHS Top Safety Pick is one of the most prestigious awards a vehicle can receive.
The Edge earned the top score of good in four crash tests:
Moderate front overlap crash tests
Side crash tests
Roof Strength
Head Restraints and Seats

The acceptable score in the small overlap front test puts the Edge over the top. The door hinge pillar was reinforced this year to improve the score in small overlap front crashes. IIHS tests found the driver's space to be well-maintained with a low risk of any significant injuries.

Going back to 2011, IIHS has given the Edge the top score of good in the four traditional crash tests -- moderate, side, roof strength and head restraints and seats.
