Review: 2016 Ford Edge

The 2016 Ford Edge is an engineering marvel. This SUV arrives at Waikem with technology options that keep you safe and make the commute even more fun. Add in the great design and great set of standard features, and we think you'll really like the Ford Edge.
The Future is Here
You're looking at the future of driving with a 2016 Ford Edge. With advanced driver-assist technology options, you'll stay safer behind the wheel. Sensors and cameras are mounted all around this SUV to keep you in your lane, maintain a safe distance and notify you of potential dangers ahead.
The Edge has an optional camera on the front grille that monitors everything happening in front of you. That camera will also display on the center console, making it easier than ever to street park and stay in the center of your lane.
With adaptive cruise control and collision warning support, the vehicle will automatically adjust its speed to help you keep a safe pace of the vehicles around you. If a front-end collision seems possible, warning chimes and alerts go off, and the pre-charged braking system is engaged, all to help you prevent danger.
With Ford's Blind Spot Information System, the sensors constantly observe everything happening in your blind spots. Lights will display on your side mirror to alert you of vehicles in the blind spot. Cross traffic alerts also help you make informed decisions at a tricky intersection with limited sight lines.
This is the first Ford Edge to offer an adaptive steering system. The vehicle automatically adjusts the steering response of the front wheel, based on how fast the vehicle is moving. With this added-on option, it's easier to steer at lower speeds with better response at higher speeds.
Ford's active park assist returns in the new Ford Edge. As always, you find a parking spot and set the Active Park Assist option, and the Edge safely steers you in to the spot.
With the hands-free tailgate, you just need the key fob in your pocket, slide your foot under the tailgate and the gate opens. This is perfect when your hands are full with kids, groceries or boxes.
A more fun commute
It's not just about safety with the 2016 Ford Edge. The Ford Edge comes with the optional Ford SYNC3 system, and your phone communicates with your car like never before. The new touch screen center console is laid out like a Smartphone, with big, easy to use buttons and a more responsive touch screen. The voice activated system is an improvement over outgoing models.
The standard SYNC system on all models includes hands-free calling, voice activated music commands and SYNC AppLink. With AppLink, you can download the most popular apps from your phone and use them wirelessly on the center console.
Other tech upgrades available on the 2016 Ford Edge include the navigation system, satellite radio (subscription required), and upgraded Sony Sound System with HD Radio.
EcoBoost Engine
There are four different engine options, including three EcoBoost options. When equipped with EcoBoost you get up to 30 highway miles per gallon. You don't sacrifice power though, as the Edge gets up to 315 horsepower and produces 350-lb ft of torque.
The theme of the Edge is future, and the EcoBoost engine is definitely the future of gasoline engines.
Great Standard Features
Every Ford Edge comes standard with a backup camera, Ford SYNC, leather wrapped shift knob, 18-inch alloy wheels, air, cruise control, keyless entry, power locks and power windows. Every Ford Edge also comes with the Ford MyKey system. You'll love MyKey if you have young drivers, because you can set a speed limit and radio volume limit. The radio won't play if the seatbelt isn't buckled.
In total there are four trim levels and a number of different packages to build you Ford with exactly what you want. There are ten color options and up to 11 different color and fabric choices.
